The entertainment can make or break
your reception. Long after the food, flowers and location of your reception have been
forgotten, your family and friends will always remember if they had a good time!
Considering the different backgrounds of those who will be attending your wedding, your
musical entertainment should be able to provide something to satisfy a variety
of musical tastes.
For quality, variety, and value, nothing can beat an experienced DJ with a professional
sound system and presentation. A professional DJ can create a memorable event that friends
and family will talk about for years. But how do you know which DJ to choose?
EXPERIENCE AND REPUTATION
A DJ with years of experience performing at wedding receptions will have gained the trust
of his peers and a good reputation as well. Ask any other wedding professionals you are
working with to recommend someone. Also get advice from family, friends, and co-workers,
and make sure the DJ you are considering has a list of references and comments from
previous clients they have worked with. Do the DJs presentation materials look
professional?
ADVANCE PLANNING
Does the DJ offer to get together with you before signing the contract to make sure your
personalities work together?
Is a one on one consultation to discuss the reception just before the wedding part of the
price? Will the DJ work with the photographer to make sure things run smoothly at the
reception? |
MUSICAL SELECTION
Does the DJ have an extensive music library to accommodate the varied tastes of those at
the reception and a knowledge of the music? A professional DJ will always allow you to
choose the types of music you want to hear because it is your day after all!!
SOUND AND LIGHTING EQUIPMENT
Does the DJ use commercial quality equipment that is appropriate for the size and
logistics of your reception venue? Is the equipment presented professionally with cords
and wires hidden as much as possible? Does the DJ have a back up system in case something
goes wrong with the equipment?
PERSONALITY
Do you want a laid back atmosphere at your reception or a festive party? A good DJ will be
able to handle the mood you prefer. Do you want the DJ to interact with the crowd? Does
the DJ have public speaking
or media experience? The personality of the DJ is very important.
PRICE
Have you been quoted a price that seems too good to be true? Well, it probably is. A
reputable professional DJ operates the same as any other business enterprise and must
generate enough revenue to cover the cost of salaries, equipment, insurance, and other
business expenses. An extremely low price quote may indicate an inexperienced person with
poor equipment and presentation, and thats the last thing you need on your special
day. Its well worth the extra money to hire a pro!
CONTRACT
A written contract is a must. Make sure everything is specified and confirmed and ask any
questions you might have about the contract. |
